As 2010 approaches the era of SUPER-SEDANS has finally come. Porsche will launch its Panamera while Aston Martin will debut with its 4 door exotic beast. A few years ago, only Maserati had dibs in this field of luxory, but sporty super sedans and now the field has opened many new doors.
Maserati Quattroporte
In my opinion, pre 2008 Maserati Quattroporte's were the best series ever made. They came equiped with Ferrari's 4.2 liter engine and Ferrari's F1 manual paddle shifting transmission. The 2009 models with their beautiful face lifts lack the soul of its predecessor. That soul really came from the Ferrari F1 paddle shifting transmission because the car felt no different than a Ferrari supercar when hammering the car to its potential.
The current series have ZF automatic transmissions. Despite the power increases with the current engines boasting over 400bhp, the current Quattrope's performance figures are the same if not slower than the Quattroporte's with the manual F1 transmission. Having said all that if you are looking for an super sedan supercar, this car is the bang for the buck in my opinion if you want an automatic transmission. Otherwise, if you are dissapointed that the Maserati no longer has the F1 transmission then continue on to Porsche.
Porsche Panamera
Later this year, Porsche will launch it's 2010 Panamera. The car will come equipped with the Cayenne's V8 powerplant-- a motor very strong and very performance worthy. Transmission of choice is Porsche's 7 speed PDK manual style style transmission with paddle buttons located behind and in front of the steering wheel. The car will have launch control available. The double clutch system makes shifting between gears seemless and unnoticeable. The standard V8 will boast 400bhp while the Turbo priced at near $130,000 will boast 500bhp propelling the car to 60mph in 4 seconds. Overall, the car is a true Porsche. It handles exceptionally well so if you are a weekend canyon runner, you will enjoy this car very much.
Aston MartinRapide
Aston Martin will be releasing its 4 door vehicle which reminds us more of the CLS in design. The car's looks are very Aston Matinesk, but the only downfall is that the car does look like an extended version of a Aston Martin V-8. Overall, it will be a sexy car to look at it. However, the Quattroporte still seems to be the most attractive out of all the cars mentioned.
