TO KILL ONE HUMAN BEING IS THE EQUIVALENT OF KILLING ALL OF HUMANKIND-- THE QU'RAN



Nidal Malik Hasan, is a name that many people will not forget.  Unfortunately, his actions do not do any justice to those within the Muslim and Middle Eastern communities in the United States.  Nidal Malik Hassan's actions only fed into an already set in stone negative stereotype of Middle Easterners and there is no way to go around it because what he did was exaclty what people who know nothing about the Middle East firmly believe and will only believe more.

Mr. Hassan's actions seem to be based on his criticism of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  He complained about being treated unfairly and dealt with a lot of racism from Army staff members and fellow sodliers.  While there are two sides to every story, the question we have to ask is,

"Were Mr. Hassan's actions justified?"



As fellow Muslims would agree, Mr. Hassan violated everything essential in the Qu'ran.  The Qu'ran constantly talks about peace and forgiveness.  One of the greatest stories about the Prophet Mohammad is his willingness to forgive an old lady who chronicly chastised him, attacked him, and ridiculed him, yet in the end, the Prophet Mohammad never punished her, but instead forgave her and loved her.  Mr. Hassan bases his attacks on racism.  His actions were very coward like. If  Mr. Hassan really had an issue he should have confronted those that were bothering him instead of taking away the innocent lives of the people he murdered.  In the Qu'ran, to kill a human being is seen as one of the worst sins as the Qu'ran states,

"To kill ONE human being is equilvalent to killing all of mankind"

Many other minorities in the past have experienced the same racism or even worse.  Blacks, Latinos, Asians, have all faced the same road that Mr. Hassan did, but rarely did they embark on the same actions as Mr. Hassan. 

Some people, especially non Middle Eastern Americans such as white anglo saxon protestants (W.A.S.P) may assume that this cowardice act is part of Mr. Hassan's  culture. In reality it's not.  Even if Mr. Hassan is of Palestinian decent we can not compare apples and oranges. What happens in Palestine does not compare to what happens here since the environemnt are two different places? 

Why it is when a few white kids shoot an entire school at Columbine there is no emphasis on those children's background, their religion, and where they went to church. Or how about the next day after the Fort Hood shootings in Orlando another shooting took place, but no one mentioned the suspect's ethnicity, culture, or religious affialiation?  Can this be a toy by mainstream media to really make Islam and the Middle East the new enemy of America ever since the U.S.S.R. vanished over a decade ago? A slight possibility, yes.

The reality is that many Middle Easterners and those of Muslim backgrounds will face more scrutiny.  However, these people are not Mr. Hassan. Islam has contributed greatly to human kind and if you don't believe me, goto your local mosque and ask about the Abbasid Caliphate.  Without it, all the knowledge we have today would have been lost in history.  

Whether you are black, latino, Asian, or Middle Eastern, we have all faced with negative stereotpyes and still do.  It's easy to get caught up with the negative viewpoints about the media and assume day after day that what we see speaks for the majority, but in reality it only conveys the minority.  If you still doubt it, go visit Dubai, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, and other Arabic speaking countries of the Middle East to see their real beauty and culture; not the pseudo fake one that is constantly fed to your podcast from Fox Tunes. 

One thing is obvious.  The army should have payed more attention more to Mr. Hassan.  While he may have endured racism, Mr. Hassan could have taken a more noble approach such as that witnessed by the Prophet Mohammad which is to love all people and give love to people that hate you. Imagine how different the world would be everyone could follow the example of the Propeht Mohammad.
