One night in the summer of 2006 at the Taboo Lounge, a small bar Toluca Lake, California COEXISTENCE Magazine was born. Two college friends, Shahdad Kelishadi and Varuzhan Shahidzadeh, met up for a chill and relaxed night. Both of them at crossroads in their life and wondering where to go next, they decided to embark on the adventure to create COEXISTENCE magazine.
Over the next three years, many sleepless nights and countless hours perfecting the idea, look, and production of the magazine, COEXISTENCE magazine was being nationally distributed in Barnes & Noble, Borders, and Newstands. COEXISTENCE magazine had featured famous icons such as, Kim Kardashian, and had addressed many issues that people across the nation were longing to read about. COEXISTENCE magazine was the ONLY national Middle Eastern magazine distributed nationally in the United States.
COEXISTENCE Magazine, the first Middle Eastern Magazine sold nationally is now COEXISTENCE digital. Aside from showcasing the beautiful people of the Middle East, we will bring raw, truthful stories about the region as well as expose your minds to the complex and diverse cultures of Middle Eastern nations.
Many people have many assumptions about what COEXISTENCE Magazine is about. We are neither religiously nor politically affiliated. We present various and allow YOU the reader to make the best judgment possible and have your voice heard by posting comments on ALL sections of the website.
So what is COEXISTENCE Magazine? We are the magazine that bridges the gap between East and West by showing the truth about the diverse ethnicities of the Middle East while discussing issues that pertain to us abroad globally. Our goal is to create a dialogue of cross cultural communication to help non Middle Easterners better understand us and deviate from the typical Fox News stereotypes that label us “jihadis” as well as allow other Middle Easterners to better understand each other and help put away centuries of inbred grown hate and tolerance.
Along with this accomplishment came the downfall of the American (if not Global) economy. COEXISTENCE magazine seeing this dilemma and observing many print magazines going out of business decided to pull out of print, before the losses would cause a great deal of damage. As many magazines moved exclusively on-line, so did COEXISTENCE.
With the same idea, drive, passion, and message we present COEXISTENCE Digital.
